Most of our work is uncontested divorce, which we handle on a flat fee basis.  We passionately want your business, and make a point of speed, efficiency and quality in obtaining divorces in the Washington Metropolitan Area.   We know you are probably concerned about expense, so here is what we charge:

ª  In Virginia, if you are divorcing under the the "six month" statute, you must have no children of the marriage, and a property settlement agreement.  In such a case, the uncontested divorce and the uncontested property settlement agreement are handled for a package price.

• We know family law is the most traumatic area of law for litigants.   We do everything we can to explain each step of the process in detail, including what it is expected to cost and how long it may take.  It is critically important that you have confidence in us.  It is difficult to trust others when you are a victim of physical or emotional abuse.  We make referrals to family therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists wherever appropriate, in recognition that not all issues can be handled by our office. 

Mr. Long's bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago was in Human Development.  The course of study included infancy, adolescence, adulthood and gerontology in the multi-disciplinary framework of psychology, sociology, biology, anthropology and statistics.

State of the Art Representation

• We are fully computerized, with all Virginia divorce, custody, and support forms in an integrated database.  This means when the data is entered, the calculations are done automatically, and printed on the forms used by the court.  We have all relevant Virginia Code, Rules and cases on our hard drive.  We have Westlaw access to Maryland and D.C. law as well.  We have a scanner and an intra-net.   The details of your situation are handled in the most rapid and cost-efficient technological environment ever available in the practice of law.

Practice Concentrates in Divorce Law

• More than half our fees are generated by divorce cases.  Our offices in the City of Fairfax, Virginia, are located a block from the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, which handles family violence, custody and child support.  We are two blocks from the Fairfax Circuit Court, which handles divorce and everything else.  In Virginia, if either party is a resident for six months, a divorce may be handled in any county (absent objection), so you could be as far away as Roanoke or Virginia Beach and still get divorced in Fairfax.   (We have handled Hague Convention cases, too.)

Our second most frequent divorce court is the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland, across the Potomac River from us in Rockville, Maryland.
