Hague Convention Litigation
We represent parents in international custody and abduction cases under the Hague Convention
on Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.
In these cases, a child has been taken to or from the
United States to or from one of the 45 countries that signed the International Convention,
in violation of parental access rights.
Our law office also handles custody disputes within the United States, if one parent lives in Virginia, Maryland or D.C.:
- VA, MD or DC parent / client vs. a parent in any state
- Parent / client outside DC, MD or VA vs. a parent in DC, MD or VA.
These cases arise under the Uniform Child Custody
Jurisdiction Act and the federal Parental Kidnapping Prevention Act.
For Mr. Long to become involved in a custody or visitation
dispute not involving a foreign country, a court must have jurisdiction over the
matter in one of the three places where Mr. Long practices -- MD, DC or VA.
Please complete and return our no-obligation
questionnaire, so we may provide an opinion
taking into account your facts and existing law.
